Hunter’s Discipline Challenges

The Hunter’s Discipline challenges are designed to replicate realistic hunting scenarios using life-size animal silhouettes, with an emphasis on ethical shot placement, stability, and decision-making under field-appropriate conditions.

Unlike precision-group or speed-based challenges, these exercises focus on placing deliberate, well-controlled shots into correct vital zones from realistic distances and shooting positions specific to each species. Challenges are all priced between R140pp and R110pp depending on the group size, and challenges can be added to the session in the pre-made packages selector.

General challenge structure

Firearm: Rifle (.243 or .30-06)
Targets: Life-size hunting silhouettes (must be selected when booking)
Distances: Predefined per species (50m – 300m)
Shots: 3 shots per target
Scoring: Based on vital-zone placement

Scoring zones

V30 – Central heart shot (primary vital zone)
30 – Heart shot (vital zone)
20 – Inner lung area
10 – Outer lung area
–10 – Non-vital hit

Performance tiers:

Based on score out of 90

Bronze - >65%

Silver - >70%

Gold - >80%

Platinum - >90%

Bushveld Challenge

Blue wildebeest

Zebra

Experience level:

Beginner - Intermediate

(Physically demanding but technically straightforward)

Description:

A classic bushveld scenario that tests stability, body position, and recoil management under standing conditions. These targets reward solid fundamentals and calm execution rather than raw precision alone.

Plains Challenge

Description:

Longer distances and smaller vital zones place a premium on wind awareness, natural point of aim, and disciplined trigger control. Shooters may choose between maximum stability at extended range or a more compact seated position at a shorter distance.

Medium Game Challenge

Description:

A balanced plains-game scenario that bridges bushveld and longer-range shooting. Distance is manageable, but correct vital placement remains essential, making this an ideal step up from entry-level challenges.

Bushveld Precison Challenge

Description:

A technically demanding kneeling shot that tests balance, posture, and trigger control. There is little margin for error, and rushed setups are immediately punished.

Bushveld Specialist Challenge

An awkward target combined with restricted support forces shooters to build stability without relying on rear support. Shot placement and body control are critical.

Big Bore Discipline

Description:

A controlled, high-recoil challenge designed to test composure, stance, and recoil management under realistic bushveld conditions. This challenge is about control under pressure, not speed or volume.

These targets are designed to simulate real-world hunting scenarios, allowing shooters to test shot placement, control, and decision-making beyond standard paper targets. A range of species is available. Ideal for those who want to add variety, realism, and an extra challenge to the day. Best suited to shooting sticks or free-hand positions for a more authentic field experience.
